Devil's Advocate

This tutorial was written by me on April 15, 2010 using PSP 9.  All my tutorials assume you have some working knowledge of PSP and/or Animation Shop.

Supplies:

Tube of choice - I'm using the great art of Elias Chatzoudis.  Do not use without a license.  You can get his tubes/license by visiting MyPSPTubes.

Scrap kit - I'm using an awesome kit from Jo at Creationz by Jo called "Devil's Advocate".  Visit her blog here to find out where you can purchase this wicked cool kit.

Pentacle preset shape - You can download here.  To install just open .psp file in your Paintshop Program and export shape.

Mask & font of choice

Filters - Eye Candy 5 Nature Fire , Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow

To begin open your mask & tube in PSP - minimize

1.  New image 700 x 700 white background - copy/paste a Paper of choice from the kit as new layer - layers - new mask layer - from image - find your mask in the dropdown - click ok - merge group

2.  To make your Pentacle shape choose a red color from your tube or kit as your stroke with background null - holding down shift key drag out your pentacle shape ( See my tag for size) - convert to raster - get your magic wand tool and click outside of your pentacle - selections - invert - new raster layer - floodfill black - selections - select none - move below your Pentacle

3.  On the black circle layer duplicate for a total of 3 layers - close out top 2 layers and highlight the bottom circle - effects - Eye Candy 5 Fire - Settings tab Medium, Hot Heat  - Basic tag with these settings:

Repeat for the other 2 circle layers opening and closing the layers as needed hitting random seed on your filter each time.

4.  Click on Pentacle layer - copy/paste your tube as new layer - duplicate - move original below pentacle layer - close out the top tube layer and with eraser tool very carefully erase any part of tool hanging below pentacle - on top tube layer you are gonna want it to look like she is coming out of the pentacle so carefully erase along the pentacle lines ( See my tag for reference) and erase any bottom part of the tube that is showing below the circle - dropshadow the bottom tube layer only

5.  Copy/paste Folidge 2 as new layer - resize - position on the left side of pentacle - duplicate - image - mirror - position - dropshadow both layers - erase any leaves that maybe blocking the skull in her hand

6.  Copy/paste Journal as new layer - resize - image - mirror - position towards the bottom right of pentacle - dropshadow

7.  Copy/paste Skull Chain as new layer - resize - position to the bottom left of pentacle - dropshadow

8.  Copy/paste Red Rose as new layer - resize - using your deform tool rotate rose to the left - position in the bottom center of Pentacle - duplicate - image - mirror - duplicate twice more, mirroring one and position (See my tag ) - merge your rose layers together dropshadow

9.  Copy/paste Fancy Bow 5 as new layer - resize - position in the center of your roses - dropshadow

10.  Copy/paste Bracelet as new layer - resize - position across the top of bow and rose - move so that the double hearts are over the knot on the bow - using eraser tool erase a bit of one of the hearts so it appears to be hooked to the bow - dropshadow the bracelet

11.  Copy/paste Dust as new layer - resize as needed - position over roses , bow, and bracelet

12.  Back on mask layer - copy/ paste Glitter Spill 2 as new layer - position towards the top of the tag - duplicate - image - flip

13.  Close out white background - crop/resize tag to your preference - add copyright/license & name adding a gradient glow to the name - open white background 

14.  For the animation - Edit - copy merge - in Animation Shop edit - paste as new animation - in PSP close the open Fire layer and open the next - copy merge - in Animation Shop - edit - paste after selected frame - repeat steps for the last Fire layer - edit - select all - animation - frame properties - change to 15 - play your animation and if happy save as .gif.
